신사의 역사
Tamaki Shrine is an ancient and deeply mystical shrine perched at the summit of Mount Tamaki (1,076 meters) in the remote mountains of Totsukawa Village, Nara Prefecture. The shrine's founding is attributed to the legendary first Emperor Jimmu, who is said to have prayed here during his mythological eastward campaign. Archaeological evidence confirms that the mountain has been a sacred site for over 2,000 years.
The shrine is part of the Kumano pilgrimage network and is known as one of the most spiritually powerful sites in Japan. Its extreme remoteness has preserved its pristine sacred atmosphere, and the mountain has long been associated with supernatural occurrences and spiritual transformation.

볼거리
The drive or hike to the shrine is itself a profound experience, winding through ancient forests of towering cedar and cypress. The shrine's precincts include groves of massive 3,000-year-old sacred trees, among the oldest in Japan. The 'Tamagaki' (sacred fence) surroundings create an atmosphere of profound tranquility and ancient power.
The mountain's summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Kii mountain range, often with clouds drifting below the shrine, creating an otherworldly landscape. The shrine is renowned as one of Japan's premier 'power spots,' attracting spiritual seekers from across the country.
주요 축제
The annual Grand Festival in October features ancient kagura (sacred dance) performances and Shinto rituals that maintain traditions unchanged for centuries. Due to the shrine's remote location, festivals retain an intimate, deeply authentic atmosphere rarely found at more accessible shrines. Special prayers for spiritual purification are offered throughout the year.
